Occupy LA Protesters Marched Through Downtown Los Angeles

By Brian & Jeff On October 15, 2011 No Comments

Today was such a great day in Southern California; I mean the weather was just about perfect it wasn’t too hot or too cold but that didn’t stop everybody from marching in downtown Los Angeles supporting the occupy LA protesting movement that’s going on right now. 65-year-old Roz Teller would’ve rather spent her day in her San Fernando Valley house instead of driving to downtown Los Angeles on such a beautiful Saturday morning. However she felt like it was her duty to join the hundreds of people already protect the painting in the occupy Los Angeles movement in downtown LA early this Saturday morning. The reason Roz and so many other people are doing this is because they are really ticked off at the Wall Street Mongols as well is the government not being able to implement enough checks and balances into the system which inevitably makes the rich get richer and keeps the poor people poor.

Roz also mention that she feels like where moving backward toward the Great Depression like we had way back in the 1920s. She mentions that more rigid regulation in our financial sector is needed and more programs need to be implemented to help the average working class and poor people and not the banks that already have all the money they can never want. The protest started at City Hall from an encampment and started moving toward spring street just after 10 AM. These protesters were carrying lots of different signs.

The signs were saying things like don’t pimp the politicians, buying is all that is asked of you, children wake up, billionaires your time is up, get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, for the common good, bye-bye Walker, we’re all walking into a global path autocracy, the thing worse than rebellion is the thing that causes rebellion, my pension is not the problem, I’m angry, how about a maximum wage, Bank of America sxxxs, Romney is the 1%, financial terrorist chase bank, make Wall Street pay, what about we the people, we are legitimate citizens United, wakey wakey, bank robbers in a whole bunch more signs.

Most of the protesters down here at the Occupy LA March are younger people in their 20s and 30s who had been hanging around City Hall for the last couple weeks supporting the occupy Wall Street protest that’s been going on in New York City. The protesters in Los Angeles wanted to start gathering in Pershing Square so they can conduct a rally before they start moving further south toward the city of Los Angeles financial district. They also wanted to conduct a second anti-Greek protest, which is good to be started by the MoveOn group which should be taking place later today.

Teller took to the downtown area of Los Angeles with approximately 20 other members of Valley grassroots for democracy, which is a left type organization that is in favor of Democratic issues. Steve Krantz was 64 years old decided to join the march because the bankers on Wall Street lobbyist and all the politicians have done a terrible job supporting the middle class and have corrupted the political arena so that only the top 1% can benefit. Krantz is no dummy either, he’s a retired IBM executive and makes it clear that he still part of the 99% and that were to be in big trouble real soon some serious corrections in our country are not made.

LA Medical Marijuana Users Are Having A Bad Day Today

By Brian & Jeff On October 15, 2011 No Comments

Today isn’t the best day for Los Angeles medical marijuana users. Anthony J Mohr who is a Superior Court judge turned down all motions from 29 various medical marijuana dispensaries to stop enforcement of the medical pot ordinance law. And while the Los Angeles city attorney’s office is happy about this, medical marijuana users throughout Los Angeles hate this as it’s a sad day for them. The Los Angeles city attorney’s office spent a lot of time and money defending the medical marijuana ordinance which was aggressively fought and despised by quite a few lawyers working for the medical marijuana dispensaries. Judge Anthony Mohr who deals with some of the most difficult cases in LA County, entertained a series of hearings that lasted quite a few months listening to arguments on both sides as well as quite a few constitutional issues raised by these marijuana collectives.

The judge looked very deeply into this dilemma, and took a very close look at all the medical marijuana laws which are known to be pretty vague, as well as many court cases and briefing papers presented by both sides. Special assistant city attorney Jane Usher mentioned that although it’s been a long road it was worth it in the end and that to have the city’s ordinance validated the big relief. On the other hand Aaron Lachant who runs a law firm that currently represents 21 of these medical marijuana dispensaries is obviously not happy at all with this decision. He mentions that this ordinance could possess a threat to the safety of the patients that were using this marijuana dispensary for medicinal purposes. He mentioned that they did plan on pursuing some type of appeal, which if upheld, would render the current citiess ordinance invalid. He also mentioned they were considering other legal options at their disposal.

Judge Mohr said that the local law was properly implemented, as well as provides all due process rights as well as protecting patient privacy. The other part of his ruling stated that marijuana dispensaries located throughout the city didn’t have any more vested rights to continue operating, which Jane Usher considered a major victory. Judge Mohr shot down certain portions of the city’s original first ordinance last year. The city of peel this ruling, however the appellate court has not ruled on this yet. A second ordinance was enacted by the city in January of this year which attracted even more lawsuits and before.

Even in spite of Judge Mohr’s strong ruling, the city Council will still be meeting up Tuesday in a closed court session to see what they can do to work on a third version. Earlier this month, state appellate court said that the city of Long Beach is allowed to use a lottery to pick dispensaries since the city violated federal law by allowing the distribution of marijuana which is still considered illegal by the federal government. The city of Los Angeles plans to conduct a lottery and the purpose of this lottery was to select exactly 100 marijuana dispensaries that were allowed to continue operating under this new ruling.

The judge did decline however to take the Long Beach decision into account in his ruling, because he said that it does indeed conflict with other various state appellate decisions. But he did mention that since this decision was handed down by an appeals court that is based in Los Angeles, it can have a very serious impact on the city’s ordinance. Although both sides are heavy disagreement, the collectives as well as the city of Los Angeles are trying to meet in the middle and come to some type of common ground. The attorney for the medical marijuana dispensaries said that their clients still hope to have a chance to work with the city to come to some type of agreement that is suitable for both parties.

Moore’s decision basically saying that medical marijuana dispensaries don’t have a right to operate in the city of Los Angeles will probably not put them all out of business although that’s what one would originally think. What it could do however, is put a strict cap on the number of outlets that are allowed to operate in the city limits. The lawmakers can also get involved, and adopts a much simpler ordinance that would force these medical marijuana dispensaries to abide by rigid zoning regulations that would limit the number of city locations. No matter what direction the Council decides to take, Jane Usher mentioned that she expects the dispensaries to challenge the findings in that litigation could occur for quite some time.

Scott Dekraai Kills 8 People In Seal Beach Beauty Salon

By Brian & Jeff On October 14, 2011 No Comments

Hello my name is Brian Garvin, and I’m writing this article from Oceanside California today. It appears that Scott Dekraai and myself have two different things in common. The first thing we have in common is that both California residents, although I live in San Diego County and he lives in Orange County and then I’m from Oceanside and he’s from Huntington Beach. The second thing we have in common is that we both served our country in the United States Marine Corps. But apparently a few days ago, something went very bad in Scott Dekraai’s life, a turn for the worst. Apparently he was involved in a custody dispute that really got him angry, so he decided to walk into a very busy hair salon in seal Beach and opened fire on his wife as well as seven other people killing eight and critically wounding a nice person.

Scott Dekraii Shooting

The Scott Dekraai shooting was considered the worst in Orange County history to date. The salon Meritage in seal Beach was sprayed with a hail of bullets as many people dropped to the floor dead. Some were able to escape and either ran into the street or head next to nearby businesses along the Pacific Coast Highway until the police arrived. One man tried to escape in a Range Rover where he was also shot since Scott was also firing outside after he left the salon. One lady from Anaheim said he just started shooting anybody he saw and wouldn’t stop and that she was scared to death he was then issued everybody. Luckily an officer spotted the suspect leaving the vicinity right as the police responded to calls of this incident.

The motive for the shooting appears to be that Scott was angry at his former wife about some kind of a custody issue, and she was a hairstylist at the salon Meritage hair salon in seal Beach California. This part of town in this area of seal Beach is normally very mellow, however after the shooting this entire community was just floored with disbelief. In fact this is been the only incident of a shooting in seal Beach in the last five years. Seal Beach police are not familiar with crimes of this magnitude, and not only is this the worst crime ever committed in the city of seal Beach, it’s also the largest death toll caused by mass murder in Orange County California. Six people were immediately pronounced dead by the time the ambulance arrived.

Three others in very serious condition were immediately transported to the trauma center at LB Memorial. One ended up surviving in the other two unfortunately passed away. All three of these victims were adults and one of the victims was Randy Fannin, who happened to be the owner of the seal Beach hair salon according to his niece Tami Scarcella. Scott Dekraai barged into the seal Beach hair salon around 1:30 in the afternoon searching for Michelle Fournier who is actually his ex-wife. Scott Dekraai is not from seal Beach and is actually a resident of Huntington Beach. Back in 2007, Scott initiated a divorce against Michelle which is what the Los Angeles County Superior Court documents state anyway.

The judge only gave the to the option of one 10 min. phone call per week as well as text or e-mail contact and the only reason for that is to discuss their child’s well-being as well as his education, but other than that they were to have no contact at all. The original child custody agreement seemed to be in the favor of Scott Dekraai since he was awarded custody and his ex-wife had to comply with some stipulations in order to see the child, one of them being not to drink any alcohol within 24 hours before visiting. Then in August of 2010, the orange County superior court took over the case at Scott Dekraai’s request.

One of Fournier’s friends mentioned that she was a very happy go lucky type of person, who always enjoy the company of her children and was always in a jolly mood. She currently has three children and was always showing off photos of them bragging about them because she was so proud of them. The outside of salon Meritage was zoned off with standard crime scene tape. Witnesses said that this was a very chaotic environment and that multiple rounds were fired from outside the parking lot and also inside the business. Kimberly Criswell owns a salon close by, and mentioned that two shots were fired at her business when Scott was shooting at the person in the Range Rover trying to escape.

Los Angeles Basin Heat Wave

By Brian & Jeff On October 13, 2011 No Comments

If you’ve been in Los Angeles for any length of time, you know it’s starting to get extremely hot around here right now. Today the Southwest is starting to get strangled by scorching heat, which is going to send many thermometers passive three digit mark, not just in the outskirts of Los Angeles, the downtown as well. A lot of people think the Pacific Ocean is going to be a source of relief for Southern California residents but it isn’t because the air continues to originate from the desert’s and blow down to the coast so any kind of cooling affect the ocean would have but not be applicable. Unfortunately today’s can be a lot hotter than Wednesday. And while it’ll end up being pretty hot in San Diego, summer around the 80s to 90s, it’ll be at least 10° hotter in most places around the Los Angeles basin.

The hottest it’s ever been in Los Angeles, was about 104° way back in 1950, at least that’s the hottest that’s been recorded so far. The readings today will be just a few degrees shy of this 61 year high. But it’s not just Los Angeles were talking about here. Fullerton, Santa Barbara and Long Beach are a few other cities across SC that have also had record-breaking heat days. Hopefully we’ll have a cooling trend that will start from Friday to Saturday. Make sure if you need to leave your room, make sure you leave your fans and air conditioning on and drink a lot of water and make sure you’re hydrated at all times. Also make sure that you are like clothing and avoid strenuous exercise to the extent possible. Make sure that you constantly look after the children and the elderly in that you never stop following these cooling steps. Also make sure that if you park your car that no one is inside, especially with the windows closed because this could end up being a death trap for an infant or one of your pets.

Celebrities Might Start Supporting The Occupy LA Movement

By Brian & Jeff On October 13, 2011 No Comments

Amazingly, several celebrities have taken the time to visit some of the people that are protesting under occupy Wall Street in NYC. So the question here is, why are we hearing about instances of these Hollywood types supporting the Occupy Wall Street protesters in LA? One reason is because some of these people could be among the most highly compensated people in the nation. Also the celebrities in Los Angeles, or more than likely maintaining themselves under the radar possibly for political reasons. Personally I wish I knew the answer to this but I don’t, but only time will tell. One example is Denzel Washington going down to the occupy LA movement, and that there’s a good chance that even Demi Moore might start supporting this movement relatively soon.

The reason a lot of this started, is because there is a growing imbalance between the rich and the poor in this country that I’d like to take a moment to address. The problem is, the rich in this country keep getting richer while the poor people become even more broke or say exactly where they are at right now. The other problem, is that the government doesn’t always listen when we try to reasonably approach them with solutions. I believe that if this country doesn’t get its act together pretty soon, then the cord is probably get a snap somewhere and things will end up getting a lot worse and they are right now. Don’t get me wrong, I sure hope things don’t get this way so the solution is to give people the opportunity to express their opinions to the government and also partially redistribute the wealth of this country so that even the poorest in this great nation have a fighting chance to succeed and to live a life with honor and dignity.

The whole premise behind the occupy Wall Street movement, is that the power in this country is unevenly distributed and that the top 1% of the population control pretty much everything have created their own global economic system which is most commonly called neo liberalism. It’s this type of system that destroys our human rights and attacks our environment in which we live. Neo liberalism is something we can escape and is a global epidemic. If you don’t have a job, unless you’re disabled or something like that, this is probably the reason why. Also to can get any kind of decent healthcare, food, a decent education or you can’t pay your mortgage this is what’s going on. Neoliberalism which is basically based on private enterprise getting ahead and and is fueled by a market-driven approach is destroying any chance you have of a decent future.

You can consider this a giant vampire that’s wrapped itself around our economic progress. It’s cutting into our living wages, destroying our labor standards and is responsible for the global financial crisis were in right now. The 1% still keep getting richer by allowing the other 99% of the population to suffer. If we don’t stop this soon it and start a new era of democratic and economic justice were to be in trouble real soon. In fact, this movement plans on starting on October 15, wherever one is can join forces and say that enough is enough and were not to tolerate the government’s BS anymore. October 15 is can a be more commonly know known as the day of actions. The occupy Wall Street movement will target banks housing, jobs, environment, war and education. There’s good to be a big culmination at Times Square at 5 PM on 15 October. Thousands of people will be there throughout the day, so it’ll be interesting to see how all this turns out and hopefully the government will least listen to what these people have to say..

Jorge Rosales Dies At LA County Jail

By Brian & Jeff On October 13, 2011 No Comments

Jorge Rosales was only 18 years old when he unexpectedly passed away while being detained at the Los Angeles County Jail in the twin towers. Unfortunately he had a seizure, and the jail authorities tried to revive him but were unsuccessful which is what Jorge’s brother Gustavo Rosales said. The abuse of inmates at the LA County Jail seems to be becoming more commonplace these days. The FBI seems to be currently investigating these recent allegations of abuse and I believe they have reason to do so. The Rosales family attorney Luis Carrillo said that a LA County deputy punched him in the head just two days before he died. And although Rosales asked for medical care, he never apparently got any. There is been a fire under the sheriff’s department for some time regarding the treatment of prisoners inside the Los Angeles County jail. So far over 24 deputies have had some sort of disciplinary action taken against them for applying excessive force on inmates and for trying to cover up certain types of abuses that happens these inmates.

Michael Genacco which is currently heading the Los Angeles County office of Independent review states that most of the deputies that work at the jail aren’t engaged in any type of illegal misconduct. However he did mention that there are some who aren’t fit to work in the jail, and there are some who after being exposed to daily violence might end up eventually committing excessive force themselves. Since the Rosales death just happened about a week ago, the LA Sheriff’s apartment still investigating to find out exactly what happened.

There was an autopsy that’s a place on Monday in the autopsy wasn’t able to determine any type of significant findings at the time the autopsy was taken which was mentioned by Nicole Nishida who is a current spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. However it appears that this autopsy has been deferred for later testing, which will more than likely take some more time. The FBI is already looking into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for several cases of potential wrongdoing.

Luis Carrillo the family attorney for Jorge Rosales and his family, believes that the Justice Department should also get involved in addition to the FBI. Mr. Creel believes that the Sheriff’s Department doesn’t have the ability to investigate their own department and their own members, and that because of this, a federal investigation needs to be launched so they could finally get to the root of the issues here. Luis has now filed a formal complaint on behalf of the family, and more than likely the next step is can a be a lawsuit. The reason for this is that they don’t want any more victims of abuse on behalf of the LA Sheriff’s Department.

Mike Richards Wants To Stay With Los Angeles

By Brian & Jeff On October 13, 2011 No Comments

Mike Richards seems to be having a real good day when he received a text message that arrived in August. He was just chilling out in his own cabana in the backyard of his awesome summerhouse which is located on the Lake of the Woods in Ontario Canada. He just got done working out and had what most people would call a perfect day. He was giving his dogs Arnold and Austin a walk on some of the nearby trails buys house. He was having such a grand time living life on the lake by his house, and hockey or anything else didn’t seem to bother them at all. A few days before this he just got back from a press tour, and everybody was just itching to know how things worked out for him in Philadelphia. Everybody needed to know why the Flyers were exchanging their captain who gave the team to wins of the Stanley Cup. In fact Mike Richards is very confused by this. Mike can make heads or tails of events that are occurring and have nothing to do with how he performs on the ice. Mike Richards received a text message asking him to meet at the Ontarian cottage country club to talk about events of some reporters who wrote a bunch of negative things about Mike Richards which he did not like at all. However to many people surprise, Mike was more than ready to do an interview.

Lloyd Anthony Roy Back In Prison

By Brian & Jeff On October 13, 2011 No Comments

A man from Los Angeles who was released just this month after spending the last 22 years in state prison for raping three different women is now back in the custody of law enforcement. The CDC mentioned Thursday that Lloyd Anthony Roy was taken back into custody on October 11 for having some pornographic material in his possession, which is a violation of his current parole terms. Right now Lloyd is in the San Bernardino County jail and his current case is been transferred to the board of parole hearings for suspected parole violations. In 1989 Lloyd Anthony Roy pled guilty to having his way with three women and brutally assaulting another woman. Roy was initially charged with several felony counts that involved attacks on some other women, however the prosecution struck a deal with him and dropped a lot but not all of these charges. Lloyd was sentenced to 44 years in state prison by the Department of Corrections, but ended up getting out early because his behavior was really good in prison.

Lindsay Lohen At Givenchy Aftershow Party

By Brian & Jeff On October 13, 2011 No Comments

If you were in Los Angeles on October 2, 2011, you might have seen Lindsay Lohan at the Givenchy after show party. Lindsay is now serving her court ordered community service sentence with a new organization. Someone from the Red Cross Thursday confirmed a report to Access Hollywood that she was doing her community service with the women’s center in downtown LA. People are trying to find out why Lindsay can just stay with the women’s center in Downtown LA in finish up what she started. A rep for Lindsay refused to discuss why she is unable to work with the women’s center at this time. On October 19, Lindsay Lohan is scheduled to have another hearing in front of the LA judge to report on her probationary progress. The original plan was for Lindsay Lohan to do 480 hours of community service over the span of one year. This was the sentence that was related to a probation for not only drinking and driving but for her misdemeanor theft case.
